NJROTC Distinguished Unit Award

NJROTC Distinguished Unit Award
The Navy JROTC program at Columbia Central High school has received the Distinguished Unit Award for outstanding performance during the 2017-2018 school year. This award is given to schools whose NJROTC programs rank in the top 30 percent of the units in each NJROTC Area. Columbia Central’s program is one of 51 Navy units within the Area 9 region which ranges from New Mexico to Tennessee including Arkansas, and parts of Texas, Missouri and Oklahoma. Only 15 other NJROTC programs within the region received the Distinguished Unit award.  The 197 cadets in the Columbia Central program participate in many after school activities including color guard, drill teams, athletic team and air rifle. NJROTC cadets have participated in many events in Maury County including The Great American Cleanup, Jail Break Triathlon, and American Legion Breakfast contributing over 4000 hours of community service. In addition, NJROTC cadets have conducted multiple Color Guard details which include the Maury County Fair, Columbia Academy Alumni Roll Call, King’s Daughter’s graduation ceremony, City Council meetings, Rotary Club meetings and numerous other events in the County.  Finally, Columbia Central Navy JROTC has received Area 9’s Most Improved Unit for the first time in its history; this reward was recently presented by the Navy League for the 2017-2018 school year. The Columbia Central NJROTC program would like to thank the parents, the school faculty and the local community for the outstanding support of this program!
